MONMOUTH, Ore. –
Megan Vernoy made GNAC All-Conference in the Discus, finishing third overall, along with five Saints breaking PR records, at the first day of the GNAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Western Oregon University.
COMPLETE MEET RESULTS
Vernoy stole the spotlight for the Saints at the GNAC Championships, making GNAC All-Conference by finishing third in the discus at 44.30-meters. Her All-Conference mark came on her third throw of the day, sending her to finals, which held strong.
Josh Schulz got the Saints' men on the board with his fourth place finish in the long jump, hitting 6.68-meters on his first attempt. Schulz hit 6.67-meters twice in his six attempts but his first leap was the best of the day.
Ariya Kendrick qualified for the 100-meter hurdles finals tomorrow after finishing eighth with a time of 14.77. Kendrick is guaranteed to earn points for the Saints by completing the finals.
Vernoy fouled her first two attempts at the shot put, before putting it together for an 11.26-meter mark in her final throw. The mark was good enough for 10th overall.
Ashley Vest and
Tiffany Pott each managed to hit 1.56-meters in the high jump, with Vest clearing on her first attempt and Pott on her second. Both tried to clear the 1.61-meter mark, which would have been PR for both athletes.
In the men's 3000-meter steeplechase,
Jasper Heckman was 13th with a time of 9:46.15 minutes, while his teammate
Miguel De LaMelena was 19th at 10:13.59 minutes.
Lindsey Dorney in the 3,000-meter steeplechase broke her PR with a time of 11:41.82 minutes, nearly 20 seconds better.
Sadie Dalgleish was 16th in the event with her time of 12:17.35 minutes.
Mark Mikulak was 17th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 16.67 seconds.
Taylor Tandecki broke her PR in the 400-meter dash, cracking the one minute mark with a time of 59.77 seconds, good for 11th overall.
Jackson Hand and
Logan Armstrong took 10th and 16th in the 100-meter dash prelims, finishing with times of 11.07 and 11.33 seconds.
Zachary Anguay and
Andrew Walter finished side-by-side in the 400-meter hurdles with times of 59.90 seconds and 1:00.20 minutes respectively. Walter just barely broke his PR in the event, shaving 0.19 seconds off his time.
Artresa Nickelson was 16th overall in the 400-meter hurdles after finishing with a time of 1:09.62 minutes. Hand also competed in the 200-meter dash, managing a time of 22.30 seconds, placing him 13th.
Ashleigh Fraser, on her last attempt of the day, finished strong, hitting 5.22-meters in the long jump, good for ninth overall in the event.
Yeshi Vaughan closed out the day in the 10000-meter race, finishing 11th overall with a time of 40:19.02. Her time was a PR by over one minute.
