Phoenix, AZ – Jill Webb and Jenny Baker had Saints Martin’s only two goals as the Saints dropped two games losing to Grand Canyon 2-1 and New Mexico Highlands 4-1.
GCU got on the board first against the Saints scoring on a penalty kick in the 30th minute. SMU answered just 10 minutes later as Webb scored off a pass from Julianna Sackeyfio at the 40:34 mark.
The game stayed tied through halftime until the 76th minute when Kayla Poe scored off a breakaway and directed it past SMU keeper Gina Cardenas. Cardenas had eight saves in goal for the Saints.
NMHU’s Julissa Rodriguez picked up the hat trick and added an assist to lead the Cowgirls to a victory. All three of her goals came in the second half in the 50th, 59th and 87 minutes, all unassisted.
New Mexico scored first as Krista Mashak flipped one over the keeper. Baker answered with a goal at the 32:56 mark to even things up. Kayci Donatelli sent a shot at the net the rebounded off the Cowgirl keeper and out to Baker who found the back of the net.
SMU had 12 shots in the game but NMWU keeper Amanda Rose Johnson collected five saves in the game.
The Saints next game will be against Dominican University of California on Friday, September 10th in San Rafael, CA.
