Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s men’s golf program has announced the signing of two new student-athletes, Matt Epstein and Tyler Kanda, both junior transfers.
Epstein graduated from Monroe High School in 2007 where he was a three-year first-team all-WESCO selection. He attended the International Junior Golf Academy in South Carolina the following year. Epstein spent last two years at Bellevue College averaging a 70.6 and was part of the team that won the 2010 NWAACC Championship.
“Matt brings us a tremendous amount of experience and a winning attitude,” said head coach Kevin Bishop. “He is a hard worker who prepares well and enjoys the competition. He will immediately make us a better team on the golf course with his ability and off the course with his enthusiasm for the game.”
Kanda is originally from the Olympia area and is a 2006 graduate of Capital High School. He comes to the Saints out of South Puget Sound Community College.
“Tyler is a very outgoing, upbeat individual on and off the golf course and will provide a very positive influence on our program,” said Bishop. “He has unlimited raw talent and as he gains tournament experience his scoring will become more consistent.”
The two join a Saints team that looks to post another strong showing this season and make it back to the West Regional Tournament.
