Palm Desert, CA – Saint Martin’s men’s golf got off to a slow start and couldn’t make up ground as they finished tied for 19th at the NCAA Division II Central/West Regional hosted by Cal State San Bernardino at the Classic Club.
The Saints shot a combined team score of 943 for the tournament. They carded a 317 in the first round with their best round coming on day two where they posted a 310.
Michael Jaeger had the highest finish for the Saints with a 234. Justin Lanman was one stroke behind at 235, shooting an even par 72 in the first round.
Kevin Jech finished at 239 with Jack Whealdon coming in at 243. Zach Dietz rounded out the pack at 244.
No. 20 ranked Sonoma State took home the team title carding a three-day, three-round 863, one under par. The Seawolves’ Janssen Todd earned medalist honors finishing two under at 214.
Sonoma State, Western New Mexico, Cal State Stanislaus, Cal State Monterey Bay and Chico State all advance to the 2010 NCAA Men’s Golf National Championship in Noblesville, IN. Two individuals will also advance, Patrick Boag of Western Washignton and Jon Klingensmith of Colorado Christian each finished with a 219 total.
