Lacey, WA – Centerfielder Andrew Elke and first baseman Travis Jones received honorable mention nods on the 2010 National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II All-West Region team.
Elke led the Great Northwest Athletic Conference in on base percentage (.530), was second in stolen bases with 16 and third in total runs scored with 48.
He also finished the season second in the nation in walks per game at 1.08 and third in total walk with 52. His 52 walks were the most in the conference and set a new GNAC all-time single-season record. The previous record of 44 was set by SMU’s Bub Bergstrom in 2004.
Jones led the Saints in numerous offensive categories including batting average (.333), slugging percentage (.474) and doubles (10). His 45 RBI was first on the team and third in the GNAC.
Both earned first-team all-conference honors.
To be eligible for the NCBWA Division II All-West Region teams, student-athletes must have been selected as either first- or second-team all-conference this season. The selection panel for the all-region team consists of six baseball SIDs from within the region.
