Tacoma, WA – Julianna Sackeyfio came away with a school record for Saint Martin’s as the track and field team battled the elements at the JD Shotwell Meet hosted by the University of Puget Sound at Baker Stadium on Saturday.
Sackeyfio added another 1 ½ inches to her one week old school record in the women’s triple jump. She finished with a distance of 35’2.50” for a fifth place finish in what was a very competitive field.
Kevin Hudson threw the javelin eight feet further to set a new personal record of 157’6”, good enough for seventh place.
On the track Annie Laweryson battled her way to second place in the women’s 1500m with a time of 4:55.65. It was both a conference qualifying time and a personal best. Kaitlynn Pecha also set a personal record in the 5000m running a time of 19:27.75.
Spencer Hunt ran a pr of 2:04.28 in the men’s 800m and Jillian Stray threw for her furthest distance of the year in the javelin with a 125’1”.
“What a day,” said head coach Julie Sullivan. “It was miserable out there today but we still had some great performances. It was not the type of day to expect anything but we managed a school record and pr’s.”
The next meet for the Saints will be the Ralph Vernacchia Invitational in Bellingham on April 9.
