Goodyear, AZ – Saint Martin’s women’s golf finished the 2010 spring season with a 10th place finish at the Grand Canyon Invitational at the Palm Valley Golf Club on Tuesday.
The Saints, who were tied for 4th after a 321 round one, posted a team total of 646 over the two-round tournament.
Karly Olsen was SMU’s highest finisher with a combined 157, her lowest round coming on the second day where she shot a 78.
Vanessa Sinclair was two shots behind with a 159. Lauren Roberts carded a 162 and Liz Ferry shot a 171. Alexi Coltom was one shot back of Ferry at 172.
Carla Cooper and Jacqueline Lau placed first and second to help lead Tarleton State to a team title with a two-round total of 592.
“GCU really brings in the best teams in the West Region,” said head coach Bob Grisham. “This is an extremely competitive field and we put together a very good first round. What has plagued us has been inconsistency.”
It was the final tournament for the Saints’ three seniors, Roberts, Coltom and Sinclair. Both Roberts and Coltom have been with the Saints all four years of their collegiate careers and were members of the 2007 team that took third place at Regionals.
“These girls have been a mainstay in the program and finished with very productive gold careers,” said Grisham.
