Cross Country: Women earn academic honor

New Orleans, LA – Saint Martin’s Women’s cross country team was named as the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division II All-Academic teams for 2009.
As a team the women finished with a combined grade point average of 3.38. It was at least the fifth consecutive year the women’s team was selected.
Making up the Saints All-Academic team were Krinda Carlson, Helen Camden, Kaitlynn Pecha, Carelia Agis, Joscelyn Minton, Annie Laweryson, Ashley Llapitan, and Karissa Owen.
Carlson posted the highest grade point with a perfect 4.0 followed by Camden at 3.69 while Pecha and Agis maintained a 3.41 and 3.33 respectively. Minton had a GPA of 3.31 and Annie Laweryson had a 3.27. Rounding out the group were Llapitan at 3.24 and Owen at 2.87.
For a team to be considered for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team award, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Championship and also have a minimum 3.00 team cumulative GPA.
