Nampa, ID – Saint Martin’s produced a couple of top eight individual finishes and personal records on what was a tough day at the office on Saturday at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships.
Josh DeVaughn finished eighth in the men’s 200m with a time of 22:60, just .02 seconds outside the school record. Spencer Hunt ran his first ever indoor 5k posting an eighth place finish in a PR of 15:51.49.
Joseph Patti, although placing just outside of the top eight, put in a great performance to lower his recently set PR in the 800m to 1:58.59, just .20 outside of the points.
Both the men’s and women’s teams finished in seventh place overall.
“The standards and strength in depth within our conference has improved greatly in the last two years and will be even stronger next year when Simon Fraser joins,” said head coach Julie Sullivan. “For a lot of athletes the conference championships will be their national championships and no longer a meet where mediocre marks win you a berth. We have some work to do.”
