Seattle, WA – The Saint Martin’s men’s and women’s cross country teams travelled to Lincoln Park in West Seattle to compete in the University of Washington Sundodger Meet on Saturday with the men’s team finishing ninth and the women’s team fourteenth.
Kyle Van Santen led the way posting the Saints’ highest finish of the day. Van Santen took 9th in the men’s open 8k with a time of 25:05. Spencer Hunt improved on last year’s performance taking 27th in 25:48. Freshman Joseph Patti was 43rd with a time of 26:26.
Nick Harvey and Noah Caffrey completed the scoring five for SMU with times of 26:47 and 27:47, respectively.   Scott Bauer, in 27:57, and Cameron Grossaint, in 30:14, also finished for the Saints.
In the women’s race Annie Laweryson took 65th with a time of 23:56 to lead the way. Krinda Carlson followed in 72nd at 24:02 and Kaitlynn Pecha finished in 24:46. Right behind was Helen Camden in 24:47 and Joscelyn Minton in 25:10, to round out the scoring five.
Ashley Llapitan posted a time of 25:20 while Karissa Owen ran a 26:25 and Carelia Agis a 30:37.
“It was tough out there today and almost all of our athletes ran faster than last year,” said head coach Julie Sullivan. “Both races had more competitors than last year with over 200 athletes finishing in each race. Mud splattered and tired, they all did us proud.”
The next meet for the Saints will be on September 26th at the Evergreen State College.
