Softball: Saints take two from Crusaders

Nampa, ID – Saint Martin’s knocked out 13 hits in game one and 15 hits in game two to sweep aside Northwest Nazarene 11-3 and 8-0 Friday afternoon at Halle Field.
SMU got on the board in the first as Kelsie McGladrey singled to right to drive in two. Up 2-1, they plated three more in the third. Brandi Klemm led off the inning with a homer and McGladrey had an RBI single and Lisa Holombo drove in a run with a double to center.
The Saints would add two more in the fifth and four more in the sixth highlighted by a three-run homerun to left by Morgan Klemm.
Amanda Arnzen pitched all six innings to earn the win. She walked just one and struck out three in the contest.
Holly Morris led the Saints with three hits and three runs scored. Brandi Klemm, Morgan Klemm, McGladrey, and Megan Antonovich had two hits apiece.
Jamie Herrick tossed a complete game shutout for the Saints in game two. She allowed just four hits in the game while walking one and striking out two.
SMU again scored two runs in the top of the first then broke the game open with a five spot in the fifth. Kristine Kaneshiro led off the inning with a homer to left and one batter later Morris sent one over the centerfield wall. Kirstin Davidson had an RBI single and Brandi Klemm drove in two with a double to left.
The Saints had six hitters with two hits in the game. Kaneshiro was 2 for 4 with a triple and a homerun. She had two RBIs and scored twice.
The teams will play a tripleheader tomorrow, making up a game that was cancelled due to weather in Lacey earlier this year. Game one is scheduled to start at 10am.
