SB 45
April 24, 2009
Spokane, WA – Saint Martin’s completed two Great Northwest Athletic Conference makeup games against Montana State Billings and came out with a split on the day taking game one 8-0 before falling 8-2 in the second game at Franklin Park.
Holly Morris drove in four runs for the Saints in the opener. She launched a two run homerun in the third and had a two run single in the fourth. Kelsie McGladrey also showed her power in the contest as she sent one over the left field wall in the third.
Morgan Klemm, Morris and McGladrey all had two hits in the game.
Brandi Klemm earned the win for the Saints throwing all five innings and shutting out the Yellowjackets. Klemm allowed just five hits in the game while striking out four.
Rebekah Tsatsa led the way for Billings in the second game as she drove in five runs. After the Saints took an early 2-0 lead, Tsatsa hit a bases clearing triple to right center. The Yellowjackets would tack on one more in the inning to make it 4-2.
MSUB added runs in the second, fourth and sixth innings to pull away for the win.
Morgan Klemm was the only Saint to record more than one hit in the game while driving in one.
Kasie Conder recorded the victory for Billings striking out 14 through seven innings, allowing just seven hits.
The split left MSUB with a one game lead over Central Washington in the GNAC race but dropped the Yellowjackets into a tie with CWU in the loss column in the race for the GNAC’s automatic berth in the NCAA playoffs.
The Saints are back at home this weekend to take on Western Washington in their final home series of the season.
