Cross Country: Saints finish season in California

San Francisco, CA – The Saint Martin’s cross country season came to an end on Saturday in the NCAA Division II West Region Championship Meet at the Golden Gate Park.
Kyle Van Santen showed his true competitive spirit giving it all he had to finish 17th in the men’s 10k event. He ran a personal record time of 31:59.
Spencer Hunt ran his first ever 10k race in a time of 34:06 followed by Nick Harvey in 34:37. Scott Bauer posted a time of 35:35 with Joseph Patti finishing in 35:44. As team the Saints took 13th.
The women’s race saw Joscelyn Minton run her best race of the season in a time of 23:59. Helen Camden was close behind at 24:03 and Ashley Llapitan came in at 24:41. The other scorer’s for SMU, who finished 20th as a team, were Annie Laweryson in 24:55 and Kaitlynn Pecha in 24:59.
“Kyle gave it his all today trying to qualify for the national meet and as a coach I can’t ask for more than that,” said head coach Julie Sullivan. “We have had sickness and injury that has hurt us this season and as the smallest team around we have to go with what we have. We look forward to building on what we have for next year.”
