Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s goalkeeper Zac Lubin was named as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference men’s soccer Player-of-the-Week for the second time this season.
Lubin had 13 saves and allowed just two goals in a pair of 2-1 wins over Montana State Billings and Northwest Nazarene that clinched the GNAC title for the Saints. It is the first team championship for Saint Martin’s in any sport in the nine-year history of the conference.
Lubin ranks second in the conference in save percentage (.724) and saves (3.71). In conference games alone he is the leader in goals against average (1.22) and save percentage (.775) and ranks second in saves (4.43).
“Zac put together two very good games at a time when we really needed a superior performance,” said head coach Rob Walker. “He had four huge saves in our second half against NNU; these saves were not your average routine saves, but critical and difficult. He was more than a difference maker. In our win against Billings he was steady. Hi play in the air and his kicking game was solid.
