Seattle, WA – Seattle University posted a .222 hitting percentage on their way to a 3-0 win over Saint Martin’s, 25-15, 25-15, 26-24, Tuesday night in a non-conference match at the Connelly Center.
The Redhawks used sizable runs in the first two sets to pull ahead and open up leads that were just too much for the Saints to overcome, hitting at a .314 and .241 clip in both games respectively.
Saint Martin’s turned the tables in the third set taking a substantial lead before SU began to chip away. The Redhawks used an 11-0 run to not only tie it but take a 21-19 lead. The Saints battled to hold on but a kill by Karina Miastkowska and an attack error by SMU would put the game away.
Brianna Bautista had 16 digs for the Saints while Malia Ibarra added 10 digs and three service aces. Teilissa Tua led the attack with nine kills.
The Saints return home for their final home game of the year against Western Oregon University on Thursday, November 12th, at the Marcus Pavilion.
