Nampa, ID – Saint Martin’s collected goals in each half on their way to a 2-0 victory over Northwest Nazarene Saturday afternoon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game at the NNU Soccer Field.
Nicole Nedervelt put the Saints on the board with a goal eleven and a half minutes into the first half. She drilled a shot from the left side that went off the NNU keeper, hit the crossbar, and found the back of the net. It was Nedervelt’s fourth goal of the season.
The score would remain the same until Joanne Packer gave the Saints some insurance in the 78th minute. Packer headed a cross from Jill Webb just inside that far post to make it 2-0.
"What a good game," said head coach Rob Walker. "We had some great chances and scored a couple of good goals. We're very pleased."
The Saints dominated the ball getting off 20 shots in the game and posting a strong showing on defense as Northwest Nazarene had only four shots all game.
Ashley Engel had three saves on goal for the Saints while Tanya Zickefoose was busy on the other end making 10 saves.
"We are taking one game at a time; the girls are really working hard and being productive," said Walker.
With the win SMU improves to 11-7-0 overall and 7-4-0 in the GNAC. The Saints will look to extend their four game win streak when return home to play their final game of the season on November 7, against Central Washington University.
