Parkland, WA – Teilissa Tua posted a game high 14 kills to lead Saint Martin’s to a 3-1, 25-17, 22-25, 25-18, 25-19, victory over Pacific Lutheran University Tuesday night in non-conference action at the Olsen Auditorium.
The Saints led the entire way through the first set jumping ahead early and never letting PLU close the gap.
Pacific Lutheran found a rhythm in game two using a seven point run to overtake SMU for the win.
Tua put down five kills in the third set to help rally the Saints who would close out the game with a 5-0 run. The final set saw the Saints break open a 15-15 tie to take a three point lead that they would never relinquish.
Tua finished the match with a .355 attack percentage. Kristin Anderson added nine kills for SMU who got 32 assists from Cymbree Decosta. Theresia Dever picked up 20 digs and Malia Ibarra had 17.
Lauren Poole had a total of 34 digs for Pacific Lutheran who was led by Kelsey Pacolt and Hannah Harrison with eight kills each.
The Saints return to conference play with a home game against the University of Alaska Fairbanks this Thursday.
