Ellensburg, WA – Saints Martin’s scored two first half goals and held of Central Washington to earn the 2-1 win in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference game on Saturday morning.
The Saints two goals came just 25 seconds apart from Jill Webb and Joanne Packer. Kaylee Kramer cross it to Kayci Donatelli who tapped it past a diving CWU keeper giving Webb the open net shot at the 15:18 mark.
Packer dribbled past Central defenders to the middle of the field and sent a bullet at the net from 15 yards out to make it 2-0. It was Webb’s seven goal of the season and the first for Packer.
Central Washington’s only goal game in the 83rd minute on a header by Kaycie Hutchins into the left side of the net. Katelyn Scobbs was credited with the assist.
Emilee Eilefson spent the entire game in goal for the Saints with three saves in the winning effort. Amber Easterbrook had two saves in goal for CWU.
The Wildcats outshot Saint Martin’s 18-11 and dominated corner kicks at 10-0 but couldn’t convert.
With the win SMU improves to 8-7 overall and 4-4 in the GNAC. The Wildcats are now 2-5-1 on the conference and 5-9-1 on the season.
The Saints remain on the road with a game at Western Oregon University on October 25th.
