Lacey, WA – Saint Martin’s has signed Jack Whealdon and Tre Jordan to National Letters of Intent announced head coach Kevin Bishop.
"I am pleased to have acquired Jack and Tre to our 2009-10 roster. Both are great students and fine players who hold a high respect for the game of golf,” said Bishop. “Both have the competitiveness I'm looking for and will fit in well with our returning players on and off the course. I couldn't be more pleased with these early signings."
Whealdon, a standout from Ilwaco High School, finished second in the Washington Junior Golf Association State Championship this year. The two previous years he tied for 10th and sixth. He has also finished second at the WIAA 1A State Championships the past two years.
Whealdon also led team Washington in the 40th Hogan Cup, at one over par 145, to a 4th place finish.
“Jack is one of the top junior players in the NW having played on last year’s Junior America Cup Team representing Washington and is consistently a high finisher in amateur tournaments,” said Bishop.
Jordan is out of Syracuse High School in Syracuse, Utah. He was a member of the team that finished in third at the 5A State Championships this season after being the runners-up in 07-08. He was also honored with the All-Region Academic Athlete award.
Jordan has first place finishes at the Glen Eagle Amateur, the Footjoy Open and the Lakeside Junior Tournament.
“Tre plays for a fine 5A high school golf team and has placed well at state each year. He has a great work ethic and desire and will only get better and better,” said Bishop.
